Owning a Tesla in Arizona: heat, solar and APS or SRP rates

Facts last checked . Prices and incentives change often; confirm with Tesla and the program before you order.

Arizona has no state EV rebate, so the case for a Tesla here rests on running costs and sunshine. APS and SRP both offer time-of-use plans with cheap overnight or midday windows, and rooftop solar is common enough that many owners charge for close to nothing.

Heat is the trade-off. On 110°F days the car spends energy keeping the battery and cabin cool, even while parked if Cabin Overheat Protection is on. That costs a little range but protects the battery, which is why Teslas in Phoenix hold up well.
