Ohio limits Tesla to three stores under a 2014 law, and in August 2025 Rivian sued the state in federal court to be allowed to sell directly too. For buyers, the practical result is the same as in most states: you order online and take delivery at a Tesla location such as Cleveland or Columbus.
Tax depends on your county: the state charges 5.75% and counties add their own share, paid when you title the car. EVs pay $200 a year on top of registration, and there is no state purchase incentive, but EVs skip Ohio’s E-Check emissions test after a one-time verification.
| Model | Base price | Destination + order fee | Tax (5.75%) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model 3 Standard RWD | $36,990 | $1,640 | $2,221 | $40,851 |
| Model 3 Premium RWD | $42,490 | $1,640 | $2,537 | $46,667 |
| Model Y Standard RWD | $39,990 | $1,640 | $2,394 | $44,024 |
| Model Y Premium RWD | $45,990 | $1,640 | $2,739 | $50,369 |
5.75% is the state rate. Your county adds its own rate (most counties total roughly 7% to 8%), based on where you live, and the tax is paid to the county clerk of courts when you title the car. Base prices are Tesla’s US prices as reported on 2026-10-26 (tesla.com could not be checked directly). Tax is applied to price plus fees, which is a simplification: title, registration and local fees are extra. Every trim and state is in Tesla price by state.
