Canadian ordering status (checked October 2026)
Model 3 Premium RWD and AWD orders have been paused in Canada since about October 12, 2026. Tesla says its quota for China-built EV imports is used up and expects to reopen orders in March 2027 if Ottawa issues more quota. The Model 3 Performance is still orderable, and any remaining Premium inventory cars may still be listed. The Berlin-built Model Y is still orderable, but delivery estimates were reported at December 2026 to January 2027 for every trim.
British Columbia has the highest EV share in Canada, but its CleanBC Go Electric passenger vehicle rebate was paused in May 2025 when funding ran out. Unless the province restarts it, the price you pay is the sticker plus 12% GST and PST.
Charging is cheap thanks to BC Hydro’s hydro power, with a lower first step and an optional time-of-day plan that discounts overnight use. Many BC highways require winter tires from October 1 to March 31, which matters if you drive to the Interior or Whistler.
| Model | Base price | Tax (12%) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model 3 Premium RWD | CA$39,490 | CA$4,739 | CA$44,229 |
| Model Y RWD | CA$49,990 | CA$5,999 | CA$55,989 |
5% GST plus 7% PST for vehicles under $55,000. PST steps up for vehicles priced at $55,000 and over, so a Model Y AWD pays more than 7%. Base prices exclude destination and order fees. Model Y is the RWD trim, before the federal rebate. With freight and fees for every trim, see the out-the-door Tesla price by province.
The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) pays up to $5,000 in 2026 ($4,000 from January 1, 2027) on new EVs built in Canada or a free-trade partner country with a final transaction value of $50,000 or less. The China-built Model 3 does not qualify. The Berlin-built Model Y RWD was reported eligible in September 2026; confirm it on your order summary.
Paused in May 2025 after funding was used up. Check CleanBC for any restart before you order.
BC Hydro has offered rebates on home charger purchase and installation. Confirm current availability.
