Canadian ordering status (checked October 2026)
Model 3 Premium RWD and AWD orders have been paused in Canada since about October 12, 2026. Tesla says its quota for China-built EV imports is used up and expects to reopen orders in March 2027 if Ottawa issues more quota. The Model 3 Performance is still orderable, and any remaining Premium inventory cars may still be listed. The Berlin-built Model Y is still orderable, but delivery estimates were reported at December 2026 to January 2027 for every trim.
Quebec has been the best province for EV rebates, but Roulez vert is winding down. It was $7,000 until 2024, dropped to $4,000 in 2025, and pays up to $2,000 on an eligible new EV in 2026. The amount is set by the date the car is registered, not the order date, and the program is scheduled to end after 2026. The Shanghai-built Model 3 Premium RWD has been reported on the eligible list. Older articles quoting $7,000 are out of date.
Electricity is the lasting advantage. Hydro-Québec’s Rate D charges 7.065¢/kWh for the first 40 kWh a day (since April 1, 2026), and overnight charging usually stays inside it. Quebec also requires winter tires from December 1 to March 15, so budget for a second set.
| Model | Base price | Tax (14.975%) | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model 3 Premium RWD | CA$39,490 | CA$5,914 | CA$45,404 |
| Model Y RWD | CA$49,990 | CA$7,486 | CA$57,476 |
5% GST plus 9.975% QST, applied to the full price. Base prices exclude destination and order fees. Model Y is the RWD trim, before the federal rebate. With freight and fees for every trim, see the out-the-door Tesla price by province.
The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) pays up to $5,000 in 2026 ($4,000 from January 1, 2027) on new EVs built in Canada or a free-trade partner country with a final transaction value of $50,000 or less. The China-built Model 3 does not qualify. The Berlin-built Model Y RWD was reported eligible in September 2026; confirm it on your order summary.
Up to $2,000 on an eligible new EV registered in 2026 (it was $4,000 in 2025). The registration date decides the amount, so a car registered in 2027 may get nothing. Check the eligible vehicle list for your trim.
Quebec has offered a rebate on Level 2 home charger purchase and installation. Confirm whether it is still open.
